What happens when you search for your name on Google? Does your name show up in the results? This article describes a technique that guarantees your name will appear!
Increasing your personal and corporate visibility on the Internet can be accomplished through a wide variety of free tools. Google profiles are free and once you have created your profile your information shows up in search results immediately. When I search for Jerry Helms, my personal listing shows up on the bottom of the first page of search results.
It is strongly recommended that you upload a high quality photograph as a part of your profile. My picture was taken by IWP Photography in Raleigh. How to create your Google profile
Creating your own Google profile requires a Google account. If you don't have one, click on the Sign In link on the top right hand corner of any Google screen. You will see a link to create a new account.
After you have created your new account and signed on click on the Settings link and then select Google account. settings. On the next page, select Create A Profile. When writing about yourself be sure to include the keywords that might be used to search for your business and links to all of your websites.
Update - December, 2009
I searched for myself today and my profile was not showing up. Apparently Google modified the profile requirements making it necessary for you to "approve" the showing of your information. If you have disappeared, go to your Google profile page and click on the link to approve your listing.
